Photography Story
It had been raining all day in the Pacific Northwest garden. Then — unexpectedly — the sun appeared.
Martha Solo stepped outside with her macro lens and found a branch of white spirea in bloom, still glistening from the rain. And there, clinging to the slender reddish stems, were the drops.
Not small, timid drops. Large, perfectly round, crystal spheres — each one holding a tiny reflection of the whole garden inside it. The sky above was still soft lavender from the clouds, but the sun was warm now, catching the white petals, the golden stamens, the tight reddish buds not yet open.
