Photography Story

There is a particular kind of morning in the Pacific Northwest that belongs entirely to the rain.

The air is cool and still. The garden holds its breath. And then — a Siberian Iris opens, its deep violet petals trembling under the weight of a thousand tiny raindrops, each one a perfect crystal sphere reflecting the whole world in miniature.

This is the moment Martha Solo captured.

Not in a studio. Not with artificial light. In a real Pacific Northwest garden, on a real rainy spring morning, with a macro lens pressed close enough to hear the silence between the drops.

Iris sibirica — the Siberian Iris — is one of the most elegant flowers of the late spring garden. Its petals are slender and refined, deep violet shading to lavender and white at the center, veined with the kind of detail that only a macro lens can fully reveal. In the rain, it becomes something else entirely — a jeweled cathedral, a living stained glass window, a reminder that God's artistry is most precise when it thinks no one is watching.

This print is part of the Kissed by Rain collection — a love letter to the Pacific Northwest's most defining element, water, and the extraordinary beauty it leaves behind.

Every drop. Every petal. Every moment of quiet grace.
