Photography Story

It had been raining all day in the Pacific Northwest garden. Then — unexpectedly — the sun appeared.

Martha Solo stepped outside with her macro lens and found the same spirea branch she had photographed hours earlier, still trembling with rain. The sky had changed. The lavender clouds had cleared into a bright, luminous blue — open, wide, and full of light. And there, on a slender stem, were two perfect raindrops.

Touching each other.

Martha stopped. In all her years of macro photography — pressing her lens close to petals, to dewdrops, to the smallest corners of the garden — she had never seen two drops like this. Each one a crystal sphere, each one holding a tiny reflection of the whole garden and sky inside it. And there they were, side by side, resting against each other as if they had been placed there deliberately.

As if someone had arranged them.

White spirea blossoms clustered along the dark reddish-brown branch — some fully open, some still closed as tight buds, all of them glistening against that brilliant blue sky. The sun caught everything: the petals, the droplets, the fine green stems, the white clouds drifting behind.

This is what Martha Solo photographs: not the grand gesture, but the quiet miracle most people miss because they went back inside when the rain started.

Two drops. One branch. The sky opening after the storm.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is this a real photograph or AI-generated? A: Every image in The Virtue of God collection is real macro photography by artist Martha Solo — never AI generated, never mass-produced. These white
spirea flowers were photographed on a real spring day in a Pacific Northwest garden in Washington State, moments after the sun appeared after rain.

Q: What exactly is included? A: You receive one printed horizontal canvas — your choice of size (10×8, 14×11, or 20×16 in.) and finish (matte or satin). The print features white spirea blossoms with crystal raindrop spheres, golden stamens, reddish-brown buds, and a soft lavender-purple sky background.

Q: What does "unframed" mean? A: You will receive printed canvas only — not mounted, stretched, or framed. You can take it to a local framer, mount it yourself, or display it as a flat canvas print. This gives you full creative control over the frame style and finish.

Q: What is the difference between matte and satin finish? A: Matte canvas (400 gsm) has a soft, non-reflective surface — ideal for rooms with natural light or a fine art gallery feel. Satin canvas (450 gsm) has a subtle sheen that makes colors appear richer and more vibrant — ideal for lower-light rooms or those who love a luminous finish.

Q: Which size should I choose? A: For a gentle accent above a desk, shelf, or in a gallery wall cluster, 10×8 is lovely. For a bedroom or home office feature, 14×11 is the most versatile. For a living room statement above a sofa or console, 20×16 makes the most visual impact in horizontal format.

Q: Will the colors look exactly like on screen? A: Colors may vary slightly depending on your monitor's calibration. The white, lavender, and soft gold tones of this print are particularly luminous and true to life when printed with our fade-resistant Epson pigment inks on premium Palo Duro canvas.

Q: How long does printing and shipping take? A: Each print is made to order in our Washington State studio. Please allow 2–3 business days for printing, plus shipping time. Free shipping within the USA.
